MARK BALDWIN

BIO

Mark Baldwin is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Information and Computer Sciences at UCI, where his research focuses on the development, evaluation, and application of tangible assistive technologies for the visually impaired community. Mark‘s work has been recognized by UCI Engage’s Great Partners Award for his outreach and engagement with community partners, local media outlets, and the Los Angeles Times. Prior to joining UCI, Mark earned his Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, B.A. from DePaul University, and worked as a software engineer for fifteen years. During his time in industry, he managed multidisciplinary teams across a range of technology products for Fortune 500 companies as partner and co-founder of Baldwin Technology Consulting. Mark unites his knowledge of HCI, software engineering, and accessibility, to prepare students for careers in technology through teaching and mentorship. As an instructor, he has embraced online learning by helping to develop and teach curriculum for UCI’s MHCID program, in-person classes, and hands-on experiences with UCI undergraduate students for the past five years.
